My New Year’s resolution was simple: clear the loft!
My New Year’s resolution was NOT simple. To anyone who has had to decide what to do with a beloved relative’s bits and pieces, lets give each other a really big hug right now.
I had my father’s stuff, my mother’s, my grandmother’s, and even my mother’s best friend’s boxes up there, and with each one I unpacked a host of memories came tumbling out. No matter that much, if not most of the decorated plates, jugs, vases etc etc have absolutely no monetary value, they hold memories, and that makes them far more precious to me.
No wonder so many books are written about long lost finds that start a trail back in time. It’s taking me forever to go through these things. But I’ve started so I’ll finish, and if i can do it, so can you!
Good hunting, and remember you don’t want the roof falling in, so go through those long forgotten boxes and you might find the key to unlock a story too…
